Tag team matches were a very logical evolution to pro wrestling, so they became commonplace pretty early on. The first tag team match is thought to have taken place in San Francisco in 1901, with unknown competitors. The concept didn’t catch on until 1937 however, when promoter Morris Sigel put on what was called a ‘Texas Tornado’ match. Milo Steinborn and the frankly incredibly named Whiskers Savage teamed up to take on Tiger Daula and Fazul Mohammed.
