In order to kill time, hip-hop enthusiasts in Rikishi, Rey Mysterio, and Chuck Palumbo started rhyming, and when it was Cena’s turn to rap, he freestyled for about 10 minutes straight, thereby garnering the attention of the creative team, who were also sharing the bus with the in-ring talents. They then decided to carve a gimmick out of his freestyling ability, and the Doctor of Thuganomics was born.
